Taxman deprives La Samaritaine of lucrative tax niche
All the major department stores in Paris benefit from a tax exemption originally designed to protect small businesses. The French tax authorities, which want to curb abuses of this provision, have just stripped La Samaritaine department store, a subsidiary of LVMH, of this right.
